Authentic Moldavite specimen from Chlum, Czech Republic. This is an untested, as-is piece of Moldavite, a tektite formed approximately 14 million years ago.
Moldavite is believed to have been created by a meteor impact that vaporized both itself and surrounding terrestrial material. The resulting vapors solidified in the upper atmosphere before raining down as solids. Moldavite is exclusively found in the Moldau River Valley in the Czech Republic.
