Pre-1900s porcelain ceramic oyster plate in crisp white, brown, and gold. Beautiful serving piece with five divots for serving oysters. Each divot is decorated with an oyster (or mussel) featuring brown-painted detail on the edges and center. At the center of the plate are three divots in the shape of seashells for sauces. The edges of the plate are scalloped with a gold-painted rim. Some rubbing of the gold has occurred. One small chip at the top edge. German oyster plate. Dimensions: 8.25" x 8.5" diameter, 1.13" tall.
