Exceptional antique handmade folk art frames featuring portraits and newspaper clippings of Dr. Constance Haller & Dr. J. A. Haller of Wytherville, Virginia. Research indicates they were doctors during the Battle of Wytherville in the Civil War.
Dr. J. A. Haller was the first doctor to reside in the Rock House (built 1822-1823), which served as a hospital during the Battle of Wytherville and is now a historical landmark. Included is information about the Haller & Gibboney Rock House Museum in Wytheville, VA.
The town of Wytheville held strategic importance during the Civil War due to its location on the Virginia and Tennessee Railroad, and its proximity to lead mines. This piece of history is a unique find.
